Now Open: Bolon’s Milan Design Week installation, RIQUADRO, in collaboration with Martino Gamper

[20 APRIL, 2026] - Bolon, the climate-neutral Swedish woven design company, has unveiled its Milan Design Week installation, an artistic collaboration with Italian designer Martino Gamper (OBE), titled RIQUADRO.
Hosted at BOLON STUDIO as part of this year’s Capsule Plaza, RIQUADRO offers an immersive installation that transforms Bolon’s sustainable woven flooring into a series of floor-to-celing wall-mounted panels, as well as floor-level plinths which may be used as seating, each offering a canvas for a unique artistic compositions of Bolon’s woven flooring.
Through cutting, layering, and recombining the woven surfaces, Gamper treats the loom as a drawing tool, revealing the material’s artistry and adaptability across scales and spatial contexts. As visitors step into the space, the total effect is a kaleidoscopic total environment of colour and shape.
Coinciding with Earth Day on 22 April 2026, Bolon’s presentation highlights the brand’s deeply rooted, long-term commitment to climate-neutral products and production. All of Bolon’s products contain 68% waste material, with zero climate impact in every square meter.
Sisters Marie and Annica Eklund, who lead Bolon, the third generation family company, explain: “Here at Bolon, we’ve always believed that design considers function as only one part of a broader dialogue – an approach we share with Martino Gamper. RIQUADRO is a natural expression of this philosophy. While visually beautiful, the works are ultimately conceived to be lived with and experienced, intentionally inviting interaction.” - Marie Eklund (Owner and CEO, Bolon) and Annica Eklund (Owner and Senior Creative Director, Bolon.
Speaking on the significance of the collaboration, Martino Gamper, OBE (Designer) adds: “Flooring is one of the largest surfaces in any space, yet it is rarely acknowledged. With RIQUADRO, I wanted to reverse that hierarchy, making the floor a field of attention without losing its purpose. It is still something you walk on, but it also asks to be perceived. When you become aware of what is under your feet, your relationship to the space shifts. The “background” becomes active, and everyday movement becomes part of the composition.”
The installation is on view throughout Milan Design Week, until Sunday 26 April 26, 2026.
